शत्रुघन सिन्हा जी को किसी परिचय की आवश्यकता नहीं है। हिन्दी फिल्मों के प्रसिद्ध अभिनेता और एक लोकप्रिय राजनेता होने के साथ वह दो बार राज्यसभा के सांसद रहे हैं; और अब दूसरी बार लोकसभा के सदस्य हैं। सिन्हा भारत सरकार में केन्द्रीय मंत्री (स्वास्थ्य एवं परिवार कल्याण, जहाजरानी) रह चुके हैं। उनका मूल नाम शत्रुघ्न प्रसाद सिन्हा है। शत्रुघ्न का अर्थ है -- शत्रु का नाशक। लेकिन लोगों को शत्रुघ्न बोलने में कठिनाई को देखते हुए उन्होंने अपना नाम शत्रुघन कर लिया था। लेकिन देश के विभिन्न प्रांतो में विभिन्न भाषाओं और बोलियों में लोग उनका नाम विचित्र बदलाव से बोलते रहे हैं। रजत शर्मा जी के प्रसिद्ध टीवी कार्यक्रम 'आप की अदालत' में शत्रुघन सिन्हा ने नाटकीय अंदाज में बताया की शब्द कैसे बदलते हैं। अगर आपने यह कार्यक्रम देखा है तो फिर दोबारा आनंद लीजिये। यह शब्दों में बदलाव का रोचक और मनोरंजक उदाहरण है।

सत्रुघुन (सिंधी) = शत्रु के अनाज का कीड़ा 

सत्रुधन (भोजपुरी) = शत्रु का धन 

शत्रुघनन सिन्ना (दक्षिण भारत/ तमिल ?)= शत्रु के घंटों ध्वनि 

चत्तुगन चीयाँ (उत्तर-पूर्व, असम, अरुणाञ्चल) = चिड़ियों के छत्ते  

शत्रु (बॉलीवुड के मित्र)   

शत्रुमुर्ग (पाकिस्तान-- शायद यह ज़बान फ़िसलना है, या मज़ाक)  

शॉटगन shotgun (मशीनगन). यह नाम फिल्मी पत्रकारिता में प्रचलित है। 

आभार: रजत शर्मा जी का हृदय से आभार। अनेक वर्ष पूर्व, 'आप की अदालत' में शत्रुघन सिन्हा जी ने नामों का यह रोचक किस्सा सुनाया था। एक भेंट में मैंने रजत जी से इस एपिसोड की कॉपी का अनुरोध किया। उन्होंने मुझे इंडिया टीवी की वेबसाइट पर देखने के लिए कहा। मैंने उन्हें बताया कि यह एपिसोड वेबसाइट पर उपलब्ध नहीं है। रजत जी ने कहा कि वे कुछ करेंगे। शत्रुघन सिन्हा जी के नए एपिसोड में रजत जी का पहला प्रश्न उनके नाम के बारे में ही था। रजत जी ने पूरे एपिसोड में से नामों में बदलाव वाली 4:45 मिनट की क्लिपिंग अलग से अपनी वेब और यूट्यूब पर डाली। वही क्लिपिंग मैंने यहाँ सांझा की है।

Mr Shatrughan Sinha needs no introduction. He is a famous Hindi film actor and a popular politician in India.  Sinha has been an MP in the Rajya Sabha twice. Now he is a second term MP in the Lok Sabha. Sinha has been a Minister in the Government of India (Health and Family Welfare, Shipping). His original name is Shatrughna Prasad Sinha. Shatrughna means - the destroyer of the enemy. He changed the spelling of his name from Shatrughna to Shatrughan because it was a bit of tongue twister. His name is pronounced in various ways in different parts of India by speakers of various languages and dialects. Sinha narrated changes in his name in his inimitable and hilarious style in Rajat Sharma’s famous TV show "APP KI ADALAT”. Even if you have seen the program, it is worth enjoying again. This is an interesting and amusing example of the way words undergo changes.

Chattuguna Chiyyan (North-East, Assam, Arunanchal Pradesh); = beehive of birds

Shatru (Friends of Bollywood) = enemy

Shatur.murg (Pakistan—it may have been a slip of tong or a joke); Shaturmug mean ostrich)

Shotgun (name is prevalent in film journalism)

Rajat promised me to do something. In a new episode of AAP KI ADALAT, Rajat Sharma’s first question to Sinha was about variations of his name.
